COASTAL ECOLOGY: dolphins, pelicans, and tidepools.

 Wild dolphins!

Ecology: the branch of biology specializing in the relationships of organisms to one another and their physical surrounds.

Why are there so many pelicans?

Answer: There must be enough food to feed them all.

BEACHSIDE GEOLOGY: the most interesting geology lessons I've ever seen!

Ever wonder why so many people come to the beach?

The breathtaking beauty of Laguna's coves is the fault of its geology.

It's the rocks! Really.  AJ (seen below), takes us out of the house to three local field trips:
Pick one of these to begin with, watch it from beginning to end, then take your own field trip to:
1. Crystal Cove
2. Laguna Beach
3. Dana Point

Most beach goers arrive with a focus on the ocean, but they spread their beach blankets on geological grains of sand.  Take a look at this great video by AJ that explains alot about what's underfoot at the beach and other features being missed as we look out to sea.
